마음을 어떻게 여는가?
생활 속에서 실천 가능한 방법을 말씀 드립니다.
How can we open our mind?
I’ll tell you a method where it’s possible to realize it in your daily life.
첫째는 타인의 입장에 서보는 겁니다.
타인을 볼 때나 사물을 볼 때 나의 지식이나 철학의 관점에서가 아니라
상대방의 입장으로 보는 것입니다.
First, learn to view things form other’s perspective.
When you look at other’s situations or a certain thing,
don’t view it from the view of your knowledge or the view of philosophy,
but from the other’s viewpoint.
우리는 그 동안 받아온 교육이라든지 종교나 철학에 의해서 많이 채워진 상태입니다.
그런 주의나 이론은 사람들을 자유롭게 하는 것이 아닙니다.
어떤 개념을 자꾸 심어줌으로써 오히려 덧붙여 주고 편견을 가지게 합니다.
그런 것들로부터 자신을 무장해제시켜야 합니다.
We all act according to the religion, philosophy or education
on which we have been raised.
These kinds of advice or theories don’t treat people freely.
The more you place in a view of thinking the more you add to it a bias.
You have to peel off from this.
하늘은 음과 양, 선과 악, 밝음과 어두움을 다 가지고 있습니다.
천둥벼락이 몰아치다가도 따뜻한 햇살을 주는 양면성이 있습니다.
그런 양면성이 매일 되풀이됩니다.
Everything is in heaven; yin and yang, good and evil, and brightness and darkness.
Heaven may send down towering thunder one moment
but will send down warm sunny rays the next.
Reflecting its duality, it repeats both sides each day.
낮에는 밤이 오리라는 생각을 못합니다.
그런데 1`2시간도 못 돼서 밤이 옵니다.
한여름에는 더위가 영원히 지속될 것 같은데,
조금만 지나면 벌써 찬바람이 붑니다.
그럼으로써 내가 아는 세계가 다가 아니라
다른 세계가 있다는 것을 보여주는 것입니다.
In the afternoon, you can’t think about night.
But in less than twelve hours, night comes.
In summer, the heat feels as if it’ll last forever but in no time,
a cool wind is blowing already.
Therefore, you realize that the world you know is not all;
another world also exists.
타인의 입장을 알게 되고, 나와 다른 사람도 많이 있다는 것을 알게 되면 이해를 하게 됩니다.
이 사람은 왜 이럴까, 저 사람은 성격이 왜 저럴까,
도저히 이해가 안 되는 사람도 그 입장에 서보면
꼭 그렇게 될 수 밖에 없는 이유들이 다 있습니다.
If you get to know other’s way of view and that there are many different from you,
you come to understand others. Why is she like that? Why is her personality like that?
If you come to see form the viewpoint of the person
you completely could not understand, you absolutely see the reason
why it was evitable she would act that way.
Reasons exists.
자라온 환경이나 부모님, 주변 여건의 영향으로 성격이나 개성이 형성되어 온 것입니다.
그 사람은 그럴 수밖에 없는 겁니다.
내가 만일 그 입장에 있더라도 나도 똑같이 될 수밖에 없는 것입니다.
Each has his own individualism based on his personality,
the environment he grew up in and parents.
That’s why there’s no other reason but for him to be that way.
If I had the same background, there would be no way but to act similarly.
상대방의 생각이 마음에 안 들지라도 일단 받아들이고,
”그래서 그랬구나” 하고 이해하는 정도만 돼도 상당히 많이 열렸다고 볼 수가 있습니다.
Even if you don’t agree with other’s thinking, at least accept it:
“Oh, so that’s why!” just understanding another up to a certain point,
you can say you’ve opened up your mind considerably to others.
